Brian Sims

2010 Pennsylvania Faculty Member

 

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

 

Brian is a policy attorney and LGBT advocate who lives and works in Center City, Philadelphia. Currently, he is the Staff Counsel for Policy & Planning at The Philadelphia Bar Association where he works with the Chancellor, Executive Director & Board of Governors to pursue and implement the legislative and policy agenda of the Association.

In addition to his practice, Brian currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors of Equality Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth’s only statewide LGBT advocacy organization and as the Chairman of the Gay & Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia (GALLOP). In 2009 he joined the National Campaign Board of The Victory Fund and was recently selected as the U.S. Ambassador to the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne, Germany. Brian was profiled in early 2009 for being the only openly gay college football captain in NCAA history and helped to lead his team to the Division II National Championship in 2000.


Brian is also the past Legal Editor of M.D. News Magazine in Philadelphia, an Associate Editor of The Philadelphia Bar Reporter, and is the current Managing Editor of Upon Further Review, a publication of the Bar Association dedicated to legal news and analysis.
