Susan Gobreski

Ms. Gobreski has worked in issue advocacy and issue based electoral politics for 18 years, running strategic campaigns, grassroots organizing and providing leadership development and training for individuals and organizations. She is the founder, President & Executive Director of Education Voters Pennsylvania, formed to advance public education policy and bring political accountability to education issues. She has done strategic issue, campaign and political consulting and training for other organizations and progressive candidates.
She served as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates (2006-07), directing the statewide lobbying and electoral strategy. From 2001-2006 she worked for the League of Conservation Voters for 5 years, working as National Campaign Director & Field Director for the Eastern U.S. and Pennsylvania State Director. From 1991 to 2001 she worked for Clean Water Action, starting as a field canvasser, then community organizer, Director and Regional Supervisor, working on numerous campaigns in 14 states during her nearly 11 years there.
She currently serves on the board of the PA Women's Campaign Fund (PWCF), a bi-partisan effort to help elect women in PA. She has served on the boards of PA LCV, the Women's Health and Environmental Network (WHEN) and numerous advisory and steering committees. She is a member of the faculty of the Center for Progressive Leadership, developing and conducting leadership training and coaching CPL Fellows; she also provides training and strategic planning support for other organizations, including national and state based environmental groups.
She is a 2008-09 Fellow at the Education Policy and Leadership Center (EPLC) in Pennsylvania. She served on the Board of Trustees of Independence Charter School for 5 years (2002-2007); serving as Treasurer, VP and President. She also was an appointee to the Title 1 Statewide Advisory Committee (SPAC) as Vice Chair (2003-2004). She has three children, 2 in public school and one in a public pre-school program; her husband is a teacher in the Philadelphia public school system.
