Pennsylvania New Leaders Program
For young professionals and recent graduates in progressive and community based organizations seeking leadership and professional development opportunities

 

CPL Pennsylvania's New Leaders Program recruits talented, diverse young professionals who are building careers in community leadership and progressive organizations.  CPL provides intensive leadership and skills-based training, as well as mentorship and networking opportunities over the course of the program.

 

 

The program focuses on empowering the leaders of tomorrow by recruiting young leaders from underrepresented communities, including but not limited to people of color, LGBTQ youth, and women.

Program Summary

 

The New Leaders Program is a six month part-time leadership and professional development opportunity that provides young progressives with training, coaching, project based work, networking and mentoring.


Our program targets community leaders and young professionals interested in learning how to affect progressive systemic change and social justice. CPL PA has graduated three classes of talented New Leaders with experience working for elected officials, unions and non-profit organizations. In addition, our New Leaders volunteer with issue-based and candidate campaigns, as well as campus and community organizing initiatives.

 

Program Components

  • Training -Five Weekend Workshops take place in Center City Philadelphia spread over six months from June to November. 2011 dates are June 25-26, July 16, September 10, October 15, and November 5.
  • Project-Based Work - 360 Degree Review and Personal Leadership Plan (PLP).
  • Coaching - Each program participant will receive support from a Faculty Coach and practice fundamental coaching skills with an assigned Peer Coach.
  • Networking events - New Leaders will be invited to meet alumni and other progressives in the area to expand their networks.

Who Should Apply

 

The PA New Leaders Program is built for community leaders and young professionals between the ages of 20 and 30 who are developing careers working toward social justice and progressive community change.


We have a strong focus on diversity, and encourage people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, women, and others from communities who have lacked access to power to apply.

 

The 2011 application is now available. The deadline is May 1, 2011.
