The Ohio office of the Center for Progressive Leadership opened in February 2008, and after nearly a year we have definitely hit our stride. Our networks have expanded by leaps and bounds, we've got over 130 applicants for our prestigious Political Leaders Fellowship, and we're working hard to achieve our mission of developing diverse leaders who can effectively advance political and policy change. In this email:
1) Amazing new team members - Mike Foley, Danae Riggs, and Jennifer Farmer!

2. Finish your Political Leaders Fellowship application TODAY!
Help us help you by getting your application in now. The sooner we have all the applications, the sooner we can schedule interviews and make the tough decisions about acceptance. This is really a special opportunity to learn and grow with some of Ohio's best and brightest from all across the state, working in different sectors and areas, with diversity of race, class, gender, sexual orienation and more. As you saw above, we're assembling a strong team, so don't hesitate to get involved now.
3. The 2008 CPL New Leaders have graduated!
Congratulations to DaMareo Cooper of MVOC, Sarah Saheb of SEIU Local 1 (formerly Local 3), Kelan Craig of COHHIO, Gina Tyus of AFSCME Council 8 Local 232, Reggie Harris of Working America, Sasha Parker of ESOP, and Daniel Ortiz of Ohio Youth Voices! See all of their profiles and read more about them here.
We had great events in the 3 C's, as well as training opportunities in Ohio and DC. Look out for recruitment for the 2009 program for 20-30 year olds with less than 2 years of experience starting this month. The New Leaders Program will begin in the summer of 2009.
As you can see, big things have happened since we started, and we have a long, long way to go.
That'll be all for now. Here's to a great 2009!
In Solidarity,
