9-Months
of Leadership Training, Coaching and Mentoring
The Michigan Political Leaders Fellowship is a nine-month, part-time leadership development program for a select group of organizational leaders, future candidates, community organizers, and progressive activists across the state.
Through training, coaching, project-based work and mentoring, the program gives up-and-coming leaders the skills and networks they need to advance progressive political change in their communities.

The Fellowship is designed to fit the schedules of working professionals through five main components:
- Five Weekend Workshops
- Regular One-on-one and Small Group Coaching
- Project-based Learning
- Mentorship
- Political Networking
With the help of national experts, guest trainers and state-wide leaders, CPL Fellows receive the skills and networks they need to be powerful advocates for progressive change in their communities, including progressive vision & values, fundraising, grassroots power & campaign planning, and communications & messaging.
The Center for Progressive Leadership is committed to building leadership that embodies the full diversity of Michigan ’s communities. Fellows come from a wide array of backgrounds and communities, as well as from all over the state.

2010 Michigan Political Leaders Fellowship
The 2010 Michigan Political Leaders Fellowship starts in February of 2010 and runs through September. The five weekend workshops take place on:
- February 27th-28th (Orientation & Kick-Off)
- April 17th-18th
- June 12th-13th
- August 1st-2nd
- September 25th-26th (Closing & Graduation)
Applicants need to be able to make every weekend in order to be considered for the program. The early acceptance application deadline is November 13th, 2009 and the normal acceptance deadline is December 19th, 2009.
