Dante James
Colorado State Director

Dante J. James is an attorney who has practiced criminal and civil litigation, and worked as an administrative hearing officer for the City and County of Denver. He taught high school in Japan, and has been an adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado at Denver and The University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During most of the 90’s, he performed advance work nationally and internationally for President and Mrs. Clinton.
In 1998 he was appointed by Denver Mayor Wellington Webb to serve as Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Contract Compliance, where he oversaw the contracting of minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprises in city construction as well as the concession program at Denver International Airport.
He has been involved in community and political work for over 20 years and has a passion and commitment to educate and motivate communities toward greater political engagement.
He is a past President of the Sam Cary Bar Association, sits on several boards, is immediate past Chair of the Denver Mayor's African American Advisory Commission and has taught martial arts locally, nationally and internationally for over 25 years. In his current position as Colorado State Director for the Center for Progressive Leadership, he oversees statewide leadership training programs for community activists and people interested in running for political office.
