Arista LaRusso

Phoenix

Profession: Arizona Democratic Party Tribal Outreach Field Organizer

Fellowship Track:  Non-Profit Organization Leadership/Advocacy

Motivation: I am concerned about this country heading into a direction that is not in the best interest for many, especially the minority.  As a Native American, it’s important to voice in protecting the sovereign rights of the nations, their natural resources, lands, water and the environment…and to speak out against the social ills that plague the Native Nations.

Volunteer Highlights: Coconino County Inter-Tribal Council Member; Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce, Past Board Member; Community Land Use Planning Committee – Navajo Nation, Past Member

Leadership Interests:  I aspire to be in a non-elected leadership role addressing some of the environmental and social issues in the Native American communities.  I seek to gain more knowledge about organizing and become a co-founder or founder of an environmental/indigenous  rights organization.

CPL-AZ Mentor: Linda Brown; Executive Director of the Arizona Advocacy Network
