Profession: Director of Government Relations at the Sojourner Center

Fellowship Track:  Future Candidate

Motivation: I am a social worker, and am motivated as a social worker to bring about social change that contributes to the well-being of all individuals.  I don’t think this was clear to me when I began this path.  I didn’t start out pursuing this.  I wanted to make a difference for people who were experiencing some of the lowest times in their lives.  But the more I learned about the social and economic and political conditions that contributed to them being there, the more I started moving in this direction.  I now believe that social work is really about social change and my involvement in political activities is one way that I am working to bring about social change. My experiences as a social worker have definitely influenced my political vision.
