Teresa Cowan Jones, M. Div

2010 Arizona Faculty

Teresa Cowan Jones is an executive coach and owner of TC Jones Coaching, specializing in individual and collective leadership development. She also serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Breakthrough Leadership Institute, a leadership and community development initiative focused on building the capacity of diverse leaders to address regional issues. Author of over one hundred tools for effectiveness for her clients, she holds a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Divinity (a four-year interdisciplinary degree) from Vanderbilt University, both with highest honors. A professionally trained graduate of Coach U, she also completed advanced training in Executive Coaching. This ten-year formal study of human development reflects her love for behavioral science and translates into a keen ability to facilitate the change process for individuals and organizations.

A social entrepreneur at heart, Teresa has taught university courses in sociology, led numerous retreats and small groups, and served as Executive Director, Program Coordinator and consultant to nonprofit organizations. As a former United Methodist minister, she created numerous developmental and social programs and has sixteen years of professional experience in leadership development in both the public and private sectors.

Teresa’s approach is based in systems thinking as applied to social change; the neuroscience of behavioral change; contemplative practices that help the mind manage the brain and circumvent burnout; cultivation of total intelligences (cognitive, emotional and contextual/spiritual); and a combination of conceptual and emotional learning for long-term results. This integral, holistic approach emphasizes self-awareness and action.
She lives a life focused on peace, community and happiness with her life partner, Lowell Jones, and six-year old son, Benjamin, in Tucson, Arizona.
