"It’s not an easy process to engage in because it is a process of self-discovery, but I found it incredibly empowering. It really allowed me to be focused and talk out-loud about where I want to go."

Help Somone Attend a Springboard Training

Give an emerging leader the chance to get the training and connections they need to make a difference at one of our Springboard Trainings.

Springboard trainings provide activists, political staff, and future candidates with the skills and resources needed to build long-term political power in their region. These one-time trainings also serve as pre-trainings for our Fellowship programs, enabling CPL to recruit and evaluate potential applicants.

Meet Michael Fedor, a Springboard Alumni from Pennsylvania

Springboard trainings are designed to teach first-time and up-and-coming community activists and political organizers the following kinds of skills:

  • Solidifying their progressive values and learning how to communicate those values effectively to various audiences in various situations or through various media
  • How to effectively advocate for personal or organizational goals and values through electoral activities
  • How to build and work with coalitions in organizational and elected leadership communities
  • How to plan strategically and create a long-term vision for accomplishing personal political leadership goals

There is a tremendous need for recruiting and nurturing the talent that fuels the progressive movement, but too often, promising leaders are left without support.  In particular, young people, women, and minorities often lack a clear pipeline to political engagement and political leadership.
