Kweli Kitwana

2009 National Faculty Member

 

Kweli Kitwana is an accomplished progressive professional with over 30 years of experience in community and political involvement.  Kweli  is currently the Vice President of Political Programs at Progressive Majority, where she manages national recruitment and training program.  Kweli specializes in designing and implementing integral community planning charettes in diverse communities across the country.  She has designed and oversaw the implementation of a Prince George’s County, Maryland community town hall meeting.

 

Kweli has provided grassroots leadership and organization development training and technical assistance to many community based organizations and individuals across the country.  She has experience with specific urban and rural community sectors including, public housing residents, low-income residents, senior citizens, youth, and an array of ethnic groups. 

 

Before coming to Progressive Majority,  Kweli served as the Deputy Director of the Center for Progressive Leadership, a Field Director at USAction/USAction Education Fund, and the President and CEO of Kweli Konsulting & Associates, 25 year-old consulting firm. Connecting issues to elections and policy to politics, Kweli seeks to take our democracy back from the corporate elite and the well-heeled special interests that have dominated the political process for too long.
