David Haiman

2009 National Faculty Member

 

David Haiman is a principal and co-founder of Movement Matters, a Washington, DC-based consulting group that focuses on developing the capacity of social justice organizations, with a particular focus on the use of community organizing and popular education.  He recently served as the Organizing Coordinator for the DC Employment Justice Center, where he helped to reinvigorate the EJC’s community organizing program.  Through Movement Matters, David is also working with such groups as the Center for Progressive Leadership, Alliance for Justice and NeighborWorks America.

David also serves as a trainer and facilitator for groups ranging from NeighborWorks America to Catholic University.  He trains on a variety of topics related to community organizing and social justice, including: Developing Cultural Capacity, Community Organizing for Policy Change, Leadership Development, and Equitable Community Development.  David received his Master’s Degrees in Social Work and Public Policy from the University of Michigan and was a community organizer through the VISTA program in the Phoenix area in Arizona.
